Thanksgiving - Are we thankful enough?

Hi Everyone,

With Thanksgiving fast approaching, with all the end of year holidays and all the chaos that comes with them, I wanted to make a parenthesis and talk a bit about Thanksgiving.

What is thanksgiving? Why is Thanksgiving celebrated? or even better Why was it "ORIGINALLY" celebrated for? and Why do WE celebrate it now?

All of these are good questions don't you think? Well, how about this, let us know what you think about Thanksgiving, why you celebrate it and what it means to you, and then we'll tell you what it means to us and what we do on that special occasion... if we do anything ;).

Halloween just around the corner...

Hi everyone, I know it's been a while since I last wrote something useful here, but here I am, and this time we're going to talk about halloween.

Why halloween, well, because it's that time of the year again, when almost everyone in the US and many other parts of the world celebrate it, even if they don't know where it came from or what the real meaning behind it. I found this site that has some basic information about holloween.

What do I do when halloween comes around you ask? Well, nothing! Huh? nothing? you ask... yes, nothing, I'm as a Seventh Day Adventist I strongly believe that holloween is a pagan (non-Christian, non-Godly, not good at all) holiday and therefore have a personal choice not to participate or encourage any member of my family to participate. I know, I know, some of you may be thinking, "what an extremest", but you know what, the Bible says "Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump?", so how can I if I'm a child of God and have been "set appart for holly use" take my self and participate in a pagan ritual? I know that today's churches are "watering down" this celebrations by having "harvest celebratios/festiivals" but that's still not giving glory to God, back in the old testament the people of Israel were punished time after time when they tried to worship the true God in the high places which God had instructed them not to use for worship.

So my family and I have chosen to serve the Lord, what would you chose?...

What is Search Engine Optimization and who should use it.

You may have heard about it, SEO or Search Engine Optimization, but what does it mean? who should be doing it? and what for?

Well, in this day and age of marketing madness, competition has gone mad, and if you don't have a deep pocket to spend on marketing campaigns, you will always be left behind.

That said, let's get into what Search Engine Optimization can do for you even if you're on a tight budget.

First let's see the 3 most important tips to get your web pages to be Search Engine Friendly or Optimized for the Search Engines.

Specific and relevant content in text that can be read by search engines. Text on images can't be read by Search Engines, so HTML text is key here and not just any HTML text, but properly formated HTML text.

Specific, relevant and unique HTML title tags on each one of your pages. This is the part that search engines uses as the link to your site, so make sure it is relevant to the content on that page, don't stuff keywords in there, just use a very simple sentence of what your page is about.

Don't create barriers to indexing. Sites that use frames, dynamic content or an all image or flash site could keep the search engines from finding your pages therefore no idexing at all.

So, who should use SEO? If you have a website or want to have a website then you need SEO.

By making simple changes to your web pages, I know your pages will rank higher and be found easier by the search engines.

Next time I'll give you more specifics as to what "relevant content" means and how to optimize your pages for specific "key phrases" not just "keywords".
